Mild Earthquake tremors in north India


Mild earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi, other parts of north India after a moderate intensity earthquake Jab Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan on Saturday afternoon.

Ripples of earthquake were felt across North India, including in Jammu & Kashmir and the national capital.

The earthquake, measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale, was 170 km deep, according to the National Seismology division of Ministry of Earth Sciences.

Meantime, the U.S. Geological Survey says the earthquake was measured at 5.3 on the Richter scale, and the epicenter of Saturday’s quake was 22 miles (35 kilometers) southeast of Jarm, Afghanistan, in the sparsely populated Hindu Kush region.

There was no report of any loss of life or damage to property till the last reports came in.
The tremor occurred at 2:07 PM and people in the delhi region rushed out of their homes.
