Rana Daggubati :Leader journey will continue in the sequel

Rana Daggubati was cinematic world as a youngster, who is suddenly put into the shoes of a politician in 2010.

The character Rana plays even becomes a Chief Minister. And just like it would have been in the real world of democracy, it’s time again for power struggle to begin as the Leader saga returns with a sequel.

Rana, whose on-screen journey as a CM will go on, says, “The journey of the characters will go on. But the cast has been tweaked a little bit.”

The actor, who will be sporting a clean-shaven look in the film, also tells us that movie buffs can expect the film to release this year, if the scheduling is done tactfully. “I have other films in the pipeline,” says the actor, who will also be working on another sequel to Bahubali. “A lot depends on the schedule.

Since my looks for these two projects are worlds apart, shooting for both these films simultaneously isn’t possible,” he explains.

Rana was seen as a young yet clever politician in the 2010 film. Back then, his naivety worked. Now, after a gap of five years and all the learning that has come his way, Rana hopes that his onscreen character in the sequel matches his current state of mind. “When I did Leader, I was clueless about what I was doing.

My career in films had just begun. I went against people’s advice of debuting in a commercial potboiler and instead chose to begin with an unconventional film.”

In fact, that approach actually helped his performance. “I played an NRI who returns to India after his father’s death. He suddenly finds himself embroiled in a political confusion. My state of mind was exactly the same.

I think that innocence and cluelessness helped me essay that character,” he says, leaving us pondering. Well, guess we’ll just have to wait and see how Rana’s growth as an actor shows on screen with this sequel.
