With the arrest of 3 men, the crime branch claims to have busted a pan India trafficking racket. The gang kidnap minor girls and sold them to men in UP and Haryana looking for bride. According to police, the gang members used to roam around in villages of Haryana and UP, which have skewed sex ratio, and strike deals with men to provide them with a bride in exchange of Rs 40,000 to Rs 1 lakh. police managed to rescue two girls. The arrested men have been identified as Arvind (26), Narender (30) and Sandeep (22). The whereabouts of other girls are yet to be ascertained.
“The operation is on and seven trafficked girls have been identified. A notorious criminal, Ravi Pandit, is the kingpin of this racket,” joint commissioner (crime branch) Ravindra Yadav told TOI.
On November 21, a report regarding kidnapping of a girl from Jharkhand was registe red at old Delhi railway police Station. Later, a compliant in this regard was also received by the anti-human trafficking unit of the crime branch and DCP Rajeev Sharma was assigned to carry out investigations.
The missing girl was recovered from the house of Sandeep on 3rd December . An FIR under IPC sections of abduction, rape, illegal confinement, causing hurt and criminal conspiracy apart from sections under POCSO Act was lodged.?
