Heavy rains sustained to hit normal life in several parts of Tamil Nadu. Water logging in Chennai has disrupted rail, road and air traffic.

Hundreds of people eluded at the Chennai airport as runway remain submerged due to rains. Chief Minister Jayalalithaa reviewed the situation and posted ministers to inspect the affected regions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on the flood situation in parts of Tamil Nadu and assured all possible support and cooperation in this fortuneless hour.
