7-8 fidayeen attack on army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s


Militants launched a massive onslaught on army camp in Kupwara district of Tangdhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, killing one army jawan.

At around 7:40 am, three to four terrorists positioned themselves at a mountainous ridge near the camp located near the LoC. The terrorists also threw grenades.

Heavy exchange of fire is underway as the army has launched a counter-terror operation against the militants.

According to reports, the attack was mounted on the gates of the 31 Gorkha Rifles camp and more than 7-8 fidayeens are suspected to be involved.

As soon as the attack occurred, the police reached the spot. Police sources said firing was on from both the sides.

An oil depot in the army camp has caught fire amongst the gun battle. Fire department has also reached the camp as fire was reported from within.
