A Facebook post shared by a local had helped the victim’s family to do the final rites for the victim here on Wednesday, which was washed ashore at Tarangambadi coast in the district, some 300 km from Chennai.
4 days after a 35-year-old auto driver was washed away in flood waters of the Cooum, his body swept ashore near Tharangambadi coast on December 6.
On December 2, as the victim had visited the brimming Cooum river for a glance of the flood water, he had spotted the victim Jayaraj to have slipped into the river and afterward found away.
About 50 relatives of Jeyaraj, including his wife and two sons, reached Tarangambadi last evening.
Jeyaraj had tattooed the name of his wife on his right hand, the name of his elder son on his shoulder and that of his younger son on his chest.
The tattoo marks helped identify the body. The police handed over the body to the relatives and it was later cremated at Porayar.
