Delhi : 8-year-old child suffering from epileptic disorder was found lying in a pool of blood at the backyard of Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospital in outer Delhi’s Rohini area on Tuesday morning.
The child had been admitted to the hospital on Monday by the NGO Aasha Kiran for treatment.
The deceased was identified as Debu alias Guddu, he was admitted in a ward on the fourth floor of the hospital building. The police suspect that the boy walked out of his room and fell to death from a balcony.
The boy had been living at Asha Kiran since 2009. “The accident came to light when a nurse went to Guddu’s ward to give him some medicines around 8.15 in the morning but couldn’t find him at his bed.
When she couldn’t find him anywhere else, she then raised an alarm as the child was mentally challenged.
About half an hour later, one of the housekeeping staff of the hospital noticed a child recumbent in blood at the backyard of the hospital and informed the security .
The child was then identified as Guddu. He was rushed inside and was declared dead,” said a hospital staff.
The staff then informed the police and the NGO about the incident. “We are trying to establish as to how the boy reached the area and where did he fall from.
It is also being probed whether the fall was due to the negligence of his care taker. No case has been registered in the matter as of now but we are probing the matter from all the possible angles,” said a senior police official.
