Odd-even formula declared the blue print: Women, CNG cars, bikes likely to be exempted by Delhi govt, Rs 2000 fine for violators


Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday declared the blue print for the implementing of odd-even formula of allowing cars on the roads of Delhi.

While announcing the main points of the rule, he said it would be implemented from January 1 to January 15 and its notification will be issued on Monday. He said all the approvals have been secured for the implementing.

He demand support of people, saying without their help, it would not be of any use.

He also said that completely doing away with cars cannot be a practical solution for pollution reduction as it would exert pressure on public transport. He said people should taking help of car-pooling. He also said that car-pooling shouldn’t be done with strangers.

Here are the important pointers of the odd-even formula

Rs. 2000 fine will be imposed on people who will break the rule

Emergency vehicles like ambulance, fire, hospital, prison, hearse, enforcement vehicles will be exempted.

Vehicles of the President, Vice President, PM, Speaker of Lok Sabha, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, governors of states are also exempted

The rule will be in effect from 8 am to 8 pm

Cars with only women travellers will be exempted from rule

Cars of other states coming to Delhi will also come under the ambit of the rule

Rule doesn’t apply on 2-wheelers: Kejriwal

2-wheelers may be included in phase 2 of the scheme: Kejriwal

CNG driven vehicles also exempted
