A 21-year-old girl, who lived with her foster parents in west Delhi’s Nangloi area, was found in front her biological parents’ residence in Uttam Nagar on Thursday.
The foster parents allege the other family’s involvement behind the murder as they say that the girl’s body was being taken for cremation without informing them.
The girl was identified as Jyoti, a student of a government school. Police were informed about the girl’s death by the crematorium in-charge who suspected foul play after seeing the blood stained body of the girl.
The incident took place in the afternoon around 2pm when her family members found her dead in front of their five storied apartment. The family has told police that she might have fallen off the gallery or jumped knowingly.
Police team was rushed to the spot and the body was sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital for post mortem.
Police said that her foster parents who were not informed about the incident immediately have raised accusations against her parents smelling family’s involvement behind the death.
“The deceased’s foster parent told police that the family had planned to cremate her without letting anyone know. They said that the family is showing it as an accidental death. We are verifying the incident and a case under relevant sections will be registered. Honour killing or suicide, none of the angles can be ruled out at this stage. The matter is being probed from all the possible angles. We are also questioning the deceased’s friends and locals to verify her tuning with both the families,” the official said.
